Blu News – A Man Alone

A most welcome piece of news from Kino is their announcement of a forthcoming release on Blu-ray and DVD of Ray Milland’s wonderful yet underrated A Man Alone (1955). There’s no date available yet but it’s claimed that the new transfer is coming from a 4K scan. I’m pleased.

  1. I’m also encouraged that so far A MAN ALONE
has generated 76 “likes” on Kino’s Facebook page-
far more than the norm for a 50’s Western.
Perhaps there are more Milland fans (including yours truly)
out there than one might imagine.
Furthermore no doubt Kino generated good sales for
PANIC IN YEAR ZERO and X-THE MAN WITH X-RAY EYES.
An added attraction will be to see a Trucolor A Movie with a
4K restoration-JOHNNY GUITAR looked beyond sensational.
The fact,as you mention, the master elements were rejected by
Olive gives us hope alternate elements for other films may surface
    in the vaults.
The reception A MAN ALONE has generated on Kino’s Facebook
pages indicate that sales should be more than decent and hopefully
other Republic A Westerns (or programmers according to ones point of
    view) will surface.
My “most wanted” are as follows:
THE MAVERICK QUEEN,THE ROAD TO DENVER,JUBILEE TRAIL,
RIDE THE MAN DOWN and SANTA FE PASSAGE.

    • I do hope it sells well too. Republic westerns are always welcome and there are some great titles that need to be available in top condition – I wouldn’t argue with any of those you’ve suggested.
